Coast Starlight route guide, 1975.

Multicolor printed paper route guide issued in December 1975 for customers aboard the Coast Starlight (Los Angeles-Seattle). Guide offers brief descriptions of cities and towns along the route, map and photographs. "Climbing snow-covered mountains and skirting valleys, your Amtrak train dips down to the seaside for a closer look...See the country the best way...the rail way." North Coast Hiawatha dinner menu, 1976.

Multi-color printed paper menu issued in June 1976 for use on the North Coast Hiawatha (Chicago-Billings-Seattle). The front cover features a collage of famous landmarks in cities and regions served by Amtrak, including the United States Capitol, Golden Gate Bridge, Statue of Liberty and a southwestern desert landscape. Passengers could chose between sandwiches or entrees such as sauteed filet of northern pike almondine. From the Ann Owens Collection.

Southwest Chief menu, 2003.

Multi-color printed paper menu issued in 2003 for use on the Southwest Chief (Chicago-Albuquerque-Los Angeles). A painting by artist J. Craig Thorpe, "Partners in Conservation," graces the cover and depicts the Southwest Chief connection to the Grand Canyon Railway at the Williams, Ariz., station. Menu items cover breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dinner entrees include Norwegian salmon and pork ribs - a customer favorite. From the Ann Owens Collection
