Amfleet II coach No. 25004, 1981.

Amtrak ordered the Amfleet II cars in early 1980 for use on long-distance overnight routes. Built by the Budd Company at its Red Lion Plant in northeastern Philadelphia, the 125 coaches and 25 food service cars were similar in exterior appearance to their Amfleet I predecessors, but included only one vestibule and were modified on the interior for a more spacious layout. Two-by-two reclining seats include foot and leg rests, individual reading lights and fold-down tray tables. Today, these coaches have 60 seats versus 70 found in the Amfleet I models employed on shorter corridor services. Car No. 25004 wears the phase three paint scheme introduced in 1979.
