The newly branded Amtrak Cascades service debuted in 1998.  Funded in partnership with the Oregon Department of Transportation and the Washington State Department of Transportation, three of the four frequencies used leased European-style Talgo trainsets (the frequency to Vancouver used standard Amtrak equipment.) New Talgo trainsets purchased by the Washington State DOT were introduced in 1999. From the Ann Owens Collection.
