Amtrak has produced paper engineer's hats for children since the 1970s; the reverse side includes railroad-themed games. The hats are generally distributed at special events such as station openings and equipment displays. This version from Amtrak's first decade incorporates the company's patriotic red, white and blue color scheme. In the early 2000s, Amtrak introduced a blue version of this hat.
