"Gas Pains?" poster, late 1970s.

Multicolor printed paper poster, probably issued in the late 1970s.

"Gas Pains?" poster, late 1970s.

This poster capitalized on the gasoline shortages of the 1970s to promote travel via Amtrak: "Gas Pains? Take Amtrak for Relief!" Rushing out of the medicine bottle is a train led by F40PH locomotive #215, dressed in the Phase II livery from 1975; the consist includes new single-level Amfleet cars introduced that same year. This image also appeared on the cover of the national system timetable issued on July 29, 1979.
