After advocating for an Amtrak stop for more than five years, Irvine, Calif. was added to the San Diegan (rebranded as the Pacific Surfliner in 2000) schedule on June 1, 1990. The intermodal Irvine Transportation Center was completed that same year. From the Ann Owens Collection.
