Following the assembly of the three prototype Viewliner cars—two Sleeping cars and one Dining car—at the Beech Grove, Ind. shops, they were assigned to various routes starting in early 1988. Amtrak actively solicited feedback from passengers and employees and monitored the condition of car systems. As the prototypes moved around the country, special receptions were held so invited guests could see the equipment up close.This invitation is for a reception and preview held at historic Dallas Union Station.
