Amtrak has long offered travel packages that include rail fare, hotel accommodations and organized tours of local attractions. According to an advertisement in the February 1, 1980 national system timetable, Amtrak offered "144 different vacations to get you on the right track...with a price range to match any budget - $18.50 to $3,448.00." In 1981, the RailAmerica program offered tours to 38 states, the District of Columbia, Canada and Mexico.
At the bottom edge of the poster is the "America's Getting Into Training" advertising slogan introduced in 1980.
