This film slide, part of a set commissioned by Amtrak Marketing, shows the Sunset Limited near Marianna, Fla., between the stations at Chipley and Tallahassee. The image focuses on the Sightseer Lounge Car as it passes over a stream. These bi-level Superliner cars include a cafe and seating area downstairs, with chairs, sofas and tables on the upper level; wrap around windows allow for unparalleled views of the surrounding landscape. The cars in the image wear the Phase IV livery introduced in 1993.
In 1995, this route ran between Los Angeles and Miami via New Orleans; service east of New Orleans was suspended following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
