"It's a great station to work, and we have a terrific team," says Ticket Agent Douglas Webb, who works out of Hartford, Conn. Ticket agents provide passengers with superior customer service from behind the ticket counter or on the station floor or platform. They are skilled in the processing of all types of Amtrak tickets and possess a thorough understanding of tariffs. Ticket agents verify that passengers are properly ticketed or have the proper travel documents, ensure compliance with baggage requirements and assist with luggage and the boarding of trains.

Completed in 1889, Hartford Union Station acts as downtown’s western boundary and is the visual transition point between the central business district and the residential neighborhood of Asylum Hill. Amtrak trains and intercity and regional buses do not occupy space in the historic station, which was renovated in the mid-1980s to accommodate retail and office use. Instead, they operate out of an addition that was constructed immediately west of the building underneath the viaduct that carries the tracks through downtown.
