Amtrak Update was a newsletter published for Amtrak employees. Feature articles in this issue focus on skiers using the Montrealer; new turbo service in the Midwest; and four new regional menus featuring delicacies indigenous to each particular area.

Montrealer menu, 1980s.

Multi-color printed paper, bilingual English/French menu issued for use on the Montrealer (Montreal-Washington). In addition to breakfast and dinner options, the menu features "Soup, etc./Potage plus" - a hot bowl of soup accompanied by a loaf of French bread, gouda cheese and a chilled apple. The daytime Vermonter (St. Albans, Vt.-Washington) replaced the Montrealer on April 1, 1995. From the Ann Owens Collection.

Amtrak wall calendar, 1990.

Multicolor printed paper wall calendar produced by Amtrak to promote its services. Annual calendar measures 23.5" x 33.5" and includes artwork by American artist Gil Reid.

Ski Northeast brochure, 1974.

Multicolor printed paper brochure issued for winter 1974-1975 promoting vacation packages to famous Vermont ski resorts including Stowe, Bolton Valley, Jay Peak and Smuggler's Notch. Packages included coach or sleeper fares aboard the Montrealer (Washington-Montreal), where passengers could join a "carefree crowd." A highlight of the train was "Le Pub," a "dimly-lit, romantic cocktail lounge car" that featured a piano and singer on weekends. From the W. Mike Weber Collection.
