In this image, Alan Boyd speaks to employees at the Beech Grove, Ind., maintenance facility to congratulate them on an excellent 1978 safety record. General Manager Walter Barrick accepted a trophy and plaque on behalf of all employees.

According to Amtrak NEWS, "Some 900 employees jammed into the trim shop to witness the presentation...coffee and donuts were available to all and each employee also received an individual first aid kit...Joe Bonelli, Amtrak's director, rules and safety, credits much of...[the] success to the local employees' safety committee which consists of representatives of each department in the shop."
