Amtrak concept station, 1970s.

In its first decade of operation, Amtrak developed standardized designs for new stations that would help create a brand identity for the company. These facilities—generally rectangular with flat, cantilevered roofs—were modular so that they could be easily expanded to accommodate increased future ridership.
