Black and white photograph dating to the late 1970s or early 1980s; depicts the kitchen on a bi-level Superliner car.

Cooks in a Superliner kitchen.

The caption for this photograph reads: "A cook prepares meals for hungry Superliner passengers. The kitchen, which is air-conditioned and fluorescent lighted, is located on the lower level of the bi-level dining car. Electric convection and microwave ovens afford much more pleasant working conditions for kitchen employees." The kitchen also contained an electric grill, toaster, coffee maker and warming table.

New Superliner cars were introduced in 1979, primarily for use on western long-distance routes.
