Amtrak NEWS was a newsletter published for Amtrak employees. Feature articles in this issue focus on the Amtrak Board of Directors' mission statement; the takeover by Amtrak of the Southern Crescent from the Southern Railway; progress made in the improvements to many parts of the 12th Street and 16th Street maintenance yards in Chicago; and the Mickey Mouse 50th Birthday excursion from Los Angeles to New York City via Amtrak trains.
