This film slide, part of a set commissioned by Amtrak Marketing, shows the Sunset Limited skirting the waters of Escambia Bay east of Pensacola, Fla. Escambia Bay flows into Pensacola Bay, which in turn flows into Santa Rosa Sound and finally the Gulf of Mexico. The bi-level Superliner cars in this image wear the Phase IV livery introduced in 1993.
In 1995, this route ran between Los Angeles and Miami via New Orleans; service east of New Orleans was suspended following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
