Sunset Limited crossing Black Creek.

One of a set of slides depicting scenes along the route of the Sunset Limited, 1995.

Sunset Limited crossing Black Creek.

This film slide, part of a set commissioned by Amtrak Marketing, shows the Sunset Limited crossing Black Creek, a tributary of the St. Johns River. This area south of Jacksonville, known as Fleming Island, is noted for forests and wetlands. The two locomotives wear the Phase III livery introduced in 1979.

In 1995, this route ran between Los Angeles and Miami via New Orleans; service east of New Orleans was suspended following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
