The Capitol Corridor is primarily financed through funds made available by the California State Department of Transportation. The system is managed by the Capital Corridor Joint Powers Authority (CCJPA), six local transit agencies in the eight-county area and by the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART).
This route runs between the Bay Area and the Sacramento region, providing a way around the traffic on the I-80 highway corridor.
