According to advertisements from the mid-1970s, Amclub was "a whole new way to travel in first-class luxury." The new single-level Amfleet cars introduced in 1975 included food service cars with an Amclub on one end. Unlike coach, Amclub featured wider two-by-one seating that was separated from the rest of the train for a quiet, secluded atmosphere. Club car attendants also provided at-seat food and beverage service.
