Train crossing the Farmington River Railroad Bridge, 1980s.

Black and white photograph showing an Amtrak train crossing the Farmington River in Connecticut; dates to the late 1970s or early 1980s.

Train crossing the Farmington River Railroad Bridge, 1980s.

In this image, a train - probably a Connecticut Valley Service (New Haven, Conn.-Springfield, Mass.) frequency - crosses the Farmington River just north of the stop at Windsor, Conn. The train, led by F40PH locomotive No. 213 in the Phase III paint scheme, consists of then-relatively new Amfleet equipment.

The bridge, constructed in 1867 by the Hartford and New Haven Railroad, features seven arches made of Connecticut Valley sandstone. Due to its structural and historical integrity, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
