Multicolor printed paper brochure issued for winter 1978-1979 to promote vacation packages to famous western ski resorts—including Vail, Colo., Sun Valley, Idaho, Park City, Utah and Jackson Hole, Wyo.—accessible from designated "ski stations." Ski Northeast brochure, 1974.
Multicolor printed paper brochure issued for winter 1974-1975 promoting vacation packages to famous Vermont ski resorts including Stowe, Bolton Valley, Jay Peak and Smuggler's Notch. Packages included coach or sleeper fares aboard the Montrealer (Washington-Montreal), where passengers could join a "carefree crowd." A highlight of the train was "Le Pub," a "dimly-lit, romantic cocktail lounge car" that featured a piano and singer on weekends. From the W. Mike Weber Collection.

Multicolor printed paper brochure issued in March 1975 to mark the start of The Mountaineer (Norfolk-Chicago). Brochure includes schedules, sample fares and information about towns along the routes for The Mountaineer and The James Whitcomb Riley (Washington/Newport News-Chicago), as the trains were combined for the run between Ashland, Ky. and Chicago. Black Hawk brochure, 1974.
Multicolor printed paper brochure issued for the start of the Black Hawk (Chicago-Dubuque) on February 14, 1974. The train initially used the self-propelled Budd rail diesel cars pictured on the front of this brochure, but they were later replaced with diesel locomotives and new single-level Amfleet cars. Deteriorating track conditions and heavy freight traffic on the route resulted in poor on-time performance, and service was discontinued in September 1981. From the W. Mike Weber Collection.

"New Amfleet II Railcars" brochure, 1980s.
Multicolor printed paper brochure highlighting the Amfleet II long-distance cars, which were ordered by Amtrak in early 1980. Built by the Budd Company at its Red Lion Plant in Philadelphia, the 125 coaches and 25 food service cars were similar in exterior appearance to their Amfleet I predecessors, but were modified on the interior for use on long-distance overnight routes. Multicolor printed paper brochure issued in April 1988 to promote the new Viewliner cars. That year, Amtrak introduced three prototype single-level Viewliners—two Sleeping cars and a Dining car—that ran in revenue service for evaluation.
