Color paper postcard featuring Cinderella's Castle at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. This card is one of a set produced by Amtrak with various images of trains and interiors.

Self ServeTicketing brochure, late 1980s.

Multicolor printed paper brochure highlighting new Self ServeTicketing kiosks. From the Ann Owens Collection; dates to the late 1980s. Amtrak introduced improved Self ServeTicketing kiosks in early 1987 at heavily-trafficked stations such as Philadelphia, New York and Los Angeles. Customers could buy a ticket or retrieve one for a previously made reservation.

Viewliner brochure, mid-1990s.

Multicolor printed paper brochure highlighting the new single-level Viewliner sleeping cars. From the Ann Owens Collection; dates to the mid-late 1990s. Viewliners, manufactured by Amerail and introduced in 1996, are primarily used on routes in the East and Midwest where tunnel and bridge clearances preclude the use of Superliners.

"New New Carrollton station" brochure, 1983.

Multi-color printed paper brochure issued in fall 1983 to promote Amtrak's October 30th move from the Capital Beltway station to the New Carrollton, Md. facility served by Washington metropolitan area subway trains and buses. From the Ann Owens Collection. Penn Central's Capital Beltway station opened in 1969 as a suburban stop for the high-speed Metroliner Service. Amtrak and MARC commuter trains moved to New Carrollton for the modern amenities and intermodal connections.

Amtrak era brochure, 1974.

Multi-color printed paper brochure with line drawings issued in May 1974 to publicize improvements to the passenger rail system since Amtrak's founding in 1971. From the Ann Owens Collection. The text describes the founding of the company, its structure and efforts to overhaul the passenger car fleet. From the mark on the back cover, this brochure was probably produced for distribution at the Amtrak display at Expo '74 held in Spokane, Wash. "Amtrak is moving ahead as planned--providing America with another area of efficient transportation..."

Sales meetings and incentive travel brochure, 1974.

Printed paper brochure with black and white photographs issued in September 1974 to promote travel aboard Amtrak for group meetings and employee incentive programs. From the Ann Owens Collection. Reasons to choose Amtrak include access to top-rate resorts and cities, convenient midtown-to-midtown service and on-board amenities such as fine dining opportunities, the relaxed social atmosphere of the lounge car and a variety of private accommodations.

Coast Starlight brochure, 1990s.

Multi-color printed paper booklet with photographs. From the Ann Owens Collection; dates to the 1990s or later. Brochure describes accommodations and amenities available aboard the Coast Starlight, such as wine tastings, as well as the diverse landscapes through which the route passes. "Turn yourself over to the ultimate off-road adventure...The Coast Starlight offers a break from reality...Breathe."

Package Express brochure, 1982.

Multi-color printed paper brochure issued in August 1982 to promote Amtrak's Package Express service. From the Ann Owens Collection. This brochure describes door-to-door overnight package delivery available via Amtrak in the California Corridor (235 cities and suburbs between the San Francisco Bay area and San Diego). Included is a chart comparing costs between Amtrak and the major package carriers.

Cape Codder brochure, 1987.

Multi-color printed paper brochure issued in 1987 to promote the Cape Codder (New York-Hyannis), a summer weekend service carrying passengers to central Cape Cod. From the Ann Owens Collection. At Hyannis, passengers could catch the ferry to Nantucket. Partially financed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the service ran from 1986 until 1996.

The City of New Orleans gains Superliner equipment, 1994.

Multi-color printed paper brochure to promote the introduction of bi-level Superliner equipment on the City of New Orleans (Chicago-New Orleans) in 1994. From the Ann Owens Collection. Prior to the arrival of the Superliner cars, the train used a mix of Amfleet and Heritage units. "Amtrak's Superliners are restaurants, movie theaters, social centers and so much more."
