"Amtrak Vacations" poster, 2000s.

Amtrak has long offered travel packages that include rail fare, hotel accommodations and organized tours of local attractions. This poster advertising Amtrak Vacations is one of a set created for Amtrak by the Michael Schwab Studio around 2000. They showcase the then-new Acela Express (Washington-Boston) and long-distance services.

The Acela Express posters depict stylized scenes for principal cities along the Northeast Corridor, while the long-distance series highlights typical landscapes associated with each train. The landscape for the Amtrak Vacations poster was also used for the California Zephyr (Chicago-Denver-Emeryville).

Graphic Artist: Michael Schwab (American) for Amtrak.

From the Ann Owens Collection.
