The lead ticket clerk at the station in Reno, Nev., John McVeigh helped save the life of an elderly passenger in 1978 by administering CPR until medical help could arrive. As evidenced by this photo, in the late 1970s, male ticket clerks had a uniform consisting of pants, white button-down shirt, jacket and tie. In the foreground is a ticket stamp dater used to validate paper tickets.
