When Washington Union Station was redeveloped, it became more than a transportation hub with the addition of many lively commercial venues and the restoration of its former beauty as a Beaux-Arts national monument.
This photograph looks out from above the entry to the East Hall, toward the West Hall. The front entry to the station is to our left. The 36 larger-than-life centurion statues keep watch about 40 feet above the crowds. In the center, a two-floor restaurant provides its own mezzanine level, and around the perimeter, several small kiosks provide boutique items for sale as well as touring service desks. Hanging in front of the central restaurant is the train display board.
